Osaka's Shirokita Park may be a bit of hike to get to from the center of the city but it's worth the trip even in the rainy season to see the garden's irises in bloom. Wander over bridges and around ponds while admiring the blooms in hues of purple, yellow and white. If the weather cooperates, bring a picnic and enjoy the rest of the park's grounds. It's a 20 minute walk from Taishibashi-Imaichi to the park entrance, or take the #34 bus from Osaka station to Shirokita-koen-mae.
