Absolute Chairs Exhibition

A special event at the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Modern Art

Venue: Saitama Prefectural Museum of Modern Art When: Feb 17th - May 12th 2024

Have you ever thought about the meaning behind chairs beyond their practical function? Certain chairs symbolize comfort and hospitality, others like thrones are visual forms of power and authority, and empty chairs denote things like loss, sadness, or even anticipation.

The Absolute Chairs exhibition at the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Modern Art explores this concept, showcasing around 70 works that depict chairs from the postwar period to the present day. Both 2D and 3D pieces are included in that lineup.

Admission to the event is priced at 1300 JPY, and no advance reservations are required.

Getting there

The Saitama Prefectural Museum of Modern Art is located just three minutes on foot from the west exit of Kita-Urawa Station, which is served by the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line. The travel time is around 35 minutes from Tokyo Station.

If you plan to visit by car, please note that the museum does not have a dedicated parking lot.
