Latest on Tokorozawa Sakura Town

Anime Camp is just one of several events for the grand opening of the Tokorozawa Sakura Town, which is taking place on Friday November 6th. Numerous attractions within the complex will open on that day, but there are also several already open.

The Anime Camp is a two-day event for the opening period only, with goods and food booths, character greetings, and exclusive photo spots. They are giving away commemorative gifts of mask cases and wristbands to people visiting on November 6th and 7th. The EJ anime museum on the third floor of the Kadokawa Culture museum within Sakura Town will also open on November 6th. It will open with a Newtype Anime Chronicle exhibition. On the first floor of that museum, the Yokai Pandemonium exhibition also starts on the 6th.

Getting there

By public transport: Tokorozawa Sakura Town is roughly a ten minute walk from Higashi Tokorozawa Station on the Musashino Line.

By car: Parking is available. It is charged by the hour, but there is an upper cap of 600 yen on weekdays and 1200 yen on weekends.

Lynda has been in Japan for 20 years and blogging about Saitama on her personal blog insaitama.com for 14 of them.  Despite its central location, just North of Tokyo, Saitama is still quite unknown to the international tourist, but frequented by domestic travelers. It is a great place to experience some off-the-international-tourist-trail locations and meet with locals and national tourists. I hope to introduce a taste of what there is to do and see in my articles on Japan Travel and help you with your Saitama travel planning.  Be sure to stop by my website where you will find 600 things to do in Saitama and 400 active events!

This whole venue looks really cool - I love that they are organizing so many fun events to commemorate its opening.

I understand, we've been avoiding anything potentially crowded as well. Glad to see things like this putting Saitama on the map more!
