Kiyonori Kikutake Exhibition 2021

San'in and Architecture

Venue: Shimane Art Museum, Matsue When: Jan 22nd - Mar 22nd 2021

Kiyonori Kikutake (1928 - 2011) was one of Japan's leading architects after the war, and was also the designer of the Shimane Art Museum which was completed in 1999. A special exhibition at the museum explores the charm of Kikutake's architecture, with a specific focus on his designs in the San'in Region such as the Shimane Prefectural Museum (1958).

Adult admission to the event is priced at 650 yen.

Getting there

The Shimane Art Museum is located a fifteen minute walk from Matsue Station, served by the San'in Main Line.

The museum is also one of the stops on the Lakeline Loop Bus (Kenritsu Bijutsukan-mae) if you'd prefer not to walk. The loop bus can be caught from the station directly, or from numerous other tourist spots across Matsue City.

If you elect to drive to the museum, there is a parking lot on the opposite side of Route 9 which offers three hours free parking.
