From mid-January to the end of March, the tiny seaside town of Inatori comes to life to host its annual 'Hina-no-tsurushikazari Matsuri'. This festival focuses on a combination of hina dolls and handmade hanging ornaments.
Hina dolls are very expensive, so for families who could not afford them, mothers and grandmothers made lovely hanging ornaments in the shapes of items thought to bring good luck.
Inatori has carried on this tradition for over 100 years and tourists are now welcome to view many of their lovely creations.
