Hydrangea Season at the Mishima Skywalk

13,000 hydrangeas in around 200 varieties to enjoy

From mid-June to mid-July, the walking path across from Shizuoka's Mishima Skywalk is filled with the color of approximately 13,000 hydrangea plants in bloom. Those are further broken down into around 200 different varieties including some that are only grown in this location, including the "Summer Sky", "Sky Walk", and "Supreme King" types.

Along with the bounty of floral beauty to enjoy, there are also sky blue soft serve ice creams available for purchase at the newly opened Skywalk Softcream cafe. They're priced at 470 yen (tax inclusive) and can only be purchased by those who have crossed the skywalk suspension bridge.

Adult admission to the Mishima Skywalk is priced at 1100 yen.

Getting there

Mishima Skywalk is located around 25 minutes by bus from JR Mishima Station (Tokaido Shinkansen, Tokaido Main Line, and the Izuhakone Railway Sunzu Line). Take the Tokai Bus from platform 5 of the station's south exit, and alight at the dedicated stop for Mishima Skywalk.
