A few minutes' walk from Yaizu station in the suburbs of Shizuoka, Teizen-in is a large, appealing Buddhist temple, with lots of points of interest. The main one for me is the beautiful, lavishly detailed wooden carvings: fierce coiled dragons, birds in flight, monkeys under the eaves, and plenty more. There are also a good number of sedate Buddhist statues dotted around the leafy grounds, and it's a very pleasant place to walk around or sit and relax, taking in the restful, spiritual atmosphere.

I love the dragon panel in the first picture!
There was another on the other side of the gate too! I love finding these temples with the decorative carvings.
