Close to Yaizu-jinja shrine a few minutes' walk from Yaizu station in the suburbs of Shizuoka, Fumon-ji is a small but appealing Buddhist temple, tucked away on a quiet side street. There's a range of interesting Buddhist statues in the grounds, some ancient and some more modern, and a small rock garden with carefully tended "cloud trees". It's a pleasant place to sit and relax, and take in the peaceful atmosphere of a small town's neighbourhood temple.
