My hubby and I were on our bicycles for exercise when we happened to pass by a huge crowd of people heading towards the Tama River. We decided to follow them, and found ourselves surrounded by many people walking along lines of colorful stalls for food, drinks and toys for kids to enjoy. Above these stalls were cherry-blossom trees in full bloom, and we were really fascinated by the sight that greeted us, so we decided to park our bikes and join the crowd. It was our first time to experience Hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) in our home of Hamura City.

Hanami by the Tama River
Cherry-blossoms in Hamura City, a suburb of Tokyo

Community writer

Several people at the Hanami went there by bicycle

Just out of curiosity, we tried thin fried wheat spaghetti sticks topped with salt, only 200 yen

The cherry blossoms above the rows of stalls look so dainty and pretty

A stall where you can get twisted potato fries on sticks for only 300 yen

The cherry blossom trees are in full bloom at this time of the year

The road has a long line of colorful stalls selling all sorts of snacks, toys and drinks

Traffic was properly handled by local volunteers

Right! Especially now that Sakura will be in full bloom soon, expect more then... otherwise, tulips would also do...

I am a super fan of cherry blossom! I am bit worried since the forecast say that it will be blooming bit earlier. Hope I can see it this year.
Oh yes, from the southern part of Japan, it will be on as early as the middle of March. Here in my place, western part of Tokyo, it will start around March 26th. If you can make it in late April or first week of May, there's still Hokkaido.Good luck then!

Wow!! The Sakura have come this early??
These photos were actually taken last year. I just didn't have time then to post them.
But yes, Sakura will be blooming earlier this year according to the weather forecast and news I've recently read online.
