Christmas in Yebisu Garden Place

Baccarat’s mega-chandelier & an elegant Christmas tree

Yebisu Garden Place, built in 1994 on the grounds of a former brewery run by Sapporo Beer, is a large commercial shopping complex, that also includes offices and apartment towers, the head office of Sapporo Beer Company, Mitsukoshi Department Store, The Westin Tokyo, restaurant Joël Robuchon, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and a movie theater.

This year, 2014, is its 20th Anniversary, and it is also the 250th Anniversary of the Baccarat Crystal Company. To celebrate both, a huge, gorgeous chandelier was made. It is obviously more than an interior decoration: The height is 8.4m, and the total number of lights in it is 410! They are planning to sell it for 410 million yen.

Some Christmas shops and a big Christmas tree are at Tokei Hiroba Square in the middle of Yebisu Garden Place. The tree, decorated with elegant crimson ornaments, shines under the blue sky in the daytime, and gives off a warm, gentle rays of peace and happiness at night.
