United by Distortion 2021

A solo exhibition from Daisuke Matsumoto

Venue: No-ma, Shibuya Parco When: Jul 27th - Aug 2nd 2021

From July 27th until August 2nd, Shibuya's No-ma gallery and experience space will host an exhibition of works from Tottori-born photographer Daisuke Matsumoto. Under the theme "United by Distortion", the photography on display will fall under three main themes that Matsumoto feels are prevalent in Japanese society at the present time, which are:

  • Athletes swayed by politics and the media
  • Rulers fueling the people to carry their fire
  • Soulless money games

Matsumoto incorporates these themes into his photography by using items and imagery from day-to-day life. United by Distortion will be his first solo exhibition in four years, after having previously displayed his works at events in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Kagoshima.

Getting there

The No-ma gallery and experience space is located at Shibuya Parco, which is approximately 5 minutes on foot from Shibuya Station's Hachiko exit. The station is served by numerous lines, including the JR Yamanote line, the Tokyo Metro's Ginza, Hanzomon, and Fukutoshin lines, and the Keio Inokashira line.
