Saruhashi, the Monkey Bridge, is found near Saruhashi Station on JR Chuo Line. The 1300 year old bridge features cantilever construction, and according to the story the designer got the idea from watching monkeys hold hands to cross the river. Saruhashi crosses a smal scenic gorge in the Katsura River, and in June and July the nearby hydrangea garden makes a lovely place for a stroll.
