The Fuji Shibazakura Festival

It’s a Pink World at Fujigoko

Fuji Shibazakura Matsuri, the Shibazakura or Phlox Blossom Festival is held each year from mid-April to the end of May, depending on the weather. In 2014, the festival was held from April 19 to June 1 at Motosuko Lake, one of the Fuji Five Lakes or Fujigoko in Japanese.

The same flowers are in Hitsujiyama Park, closer to Tokyo. Beautiful!

Visited this event a couple of years ago and it was beautiful! Definitely check the weather forecast before visiting - we had an overcast day, and were lucky enough to see Fuji-san before the clouds fully rolled in.
Mt. Fuji in the background completes the view of this amazing bed of pink flowers. Another must-see place!
