Banksy: Genius Or Vandal? (Nagoya) 2021

Reigniting the question: Is graffiti art or vandalism?

Venue: Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts When: Feb 3rd - May 31st 2021

Famous despite being anonymous, the street artist Banksy is known for a trademark stenciling technique and works that often have political or societal themes. The Nagoya leg of the "Banksy: Genius Or Vandal?" event reignites the question of whether graffiti is art or vandalism, after already having toured Madrid, Moscow, Lisbon, Hong Kong, and Yokohama.

The event will showcase around 70 original Banksy works including illustrations and 3D objects, along with experience-based multimedia displays.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1800 yen on weekdays, and 2000 yen on weekends and holidays. Tickets can be arranged via the official event website here. After the Nagoya event, the exhibition will move onto Fukuoka from early July through to the end of October 2021.

Getting there

The Nagoya "Banksy: Genius Or Vandal?" event takes place at the former Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It's located just a couple of minutes on foot from Kanayama Station, served by the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line.

I was interested in this exhibition and planned to visit it in Yokohama last summer. But... couldn't.
