Furuiwaya is a mysterious area of weird geology and Buddhist statues. You can find it on the road between Kuma Highland’s two pilgrimage temples, Taiho-ji and Iwaya-ji, but only if you look carefully. The towering cliffs studded with rocks and pocked with holes inspire awe, especially if you visit at dusk.
