Fukui Cherry Blossom Festival

Enjoy sakura season at one of Japan's top cherry blossom spots

Venue: Asuwa River and surrounds, Fukui When: Mar 25th - Apr 9th 2023

Back in 1953, the Fukui Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Fukui City Tourism Association planted thousands of cherry blossom saplings along the embankment of the Asuwa River. Those saplings grew into beautiful trees, and the banks of the river have since been selected as one of the 100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan.

While the blossoms are at their best, the Fukui Cherry Blossom Festival is held. The event includes illuminations along the Asuwa River and several other locations around JR Fukui Station, along with foods available for purchase, performances, and more.

You can get a glimpse of what to expect from the illuminations via the YouTube video below.
