Ikaho Green Bokujo offers the chance to check out the sights, sounds and especially the smells of a working farm. Located on the rolling hills above Ikaho in Gunma Prefecture, it has some great views and is a pleasant home to cows, goats, sheep, ponies and rabbits. There is a small amusement park (with rides that must have been state-of-the-art when the farm opened its gates in 1970), an archery range, a putting course and plenty of space for kids to run around. There are also several activities to experience from hand-churning butter, milking cows, a sheep dog show, rides on the ponies or a horse-drawn carriage and the chance to walk the rabbits! There are not a great deal of animals around our neck of the woods so the kids thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals close up, petting them if they were brave enough and feeding them handfuls of cabbage and carrot. There is food for humans around every corner with a BBQ restaurant, a large cafeteria and a sausage sizzle when the weather is fine as well as plenty of ice cream. It is a very enjoyable day out but be prepared to pay for everything inside the farm, even after paying for entry.
