I love the ever changing blues of the sea, the soft beige-grays of old wood that echo the color of the sand, the rich green textures of the trees and the glorious vermilion and white contrasts of Itsukushima Shrine and the big torii. However, I decided to see whether I could capture Miyajima's essence in black and white. Do you think I've succeeded?

Cathy, this is great! I would have never thought about photographing Miyajima in black and white, but I think it is absolutely awesome. It really brings across the charm and traditional feel. Well done!
Thank you, Nicole! I don't do much black and white photography, but I was quite pleased with this result.
