A special exhibition taking place at the Hokkaido Kushiro Art Museum looks into various living and ceremonial tools from Japan's northern indigenous peoples, with a focus on pieces featuring beading and embroidery. The items on display are from the collection at the Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples in Abashiri, and they are beautiful in their own right -- but they also often have significant spiritual meaning behind them.
Adult admission to the special event is priced at 600 yen.
The Hokkaido Kushiro Art Museum is located approximately 15 minutes on foot from the JR Kushiro Station, served by the Nemuro Main Line.
For those who plan to drive to the museum, there is limited on-site parking available (8 spaces). If the on-site parking is full, patrons can utilize the multi-storey Kushiro Nishikicho parking lot nearby. If you present your parking ticket at the reception desk, the staff will partially validate it for you.
