The summer months in Japan see a number of sunflower festivals pop up on the calendar, and one of the best is Hokkaido's Hokuryu Sunflower Festival. The event has been running since 1987, and showcases the beauty of a staggering 2 million sunflowers covering a space of 23 hectares.
Along with the overwhelming number of sunflowers to appreciate, the event also has two sunflower mazes, various sunflower themed foods such as sunflower soft-serve ice cream, bicycles for rent, and more.
Admission to the event itself is free, but there is a charge if you want to take part in the sunflower mazes or rent a bike.
