A mere 30 seconds after your train pulls out of Kitakami station you will see endless rice fields. The ease and modernity of Kitakami station is an ode to the JR East company. The station is clean, contemporary and very well built considering the simplicity and serenity of the area around it. The Tohoku shinkansen and mainline pass through the Shinkansen platforms and the Kitakami runs as the station's local line.

Shinkansen parked for awhile.

Check the signs and make sure you get the right train.

Fairly busy station, but not overcrowded.

View out the window 30 seconds after leaving the station, rural bliss.

This is the new speedy shinkansen.

English within the trains will keep you from getting lost.

Lot of windows.

Be sure to stay behind the yellow line!

Easy to follow signs will help you out.
