Train stations in Japan of course provide convenient travel that spans the length of the country but they often also offer incredible shopping facilities that cater to your every need. Pushing aside the commuting and shopping aspects of the building, visiting a station just to bask in the glory of its architecture is something that may not come to mind but it really is worth doing. JR West Kyoto station climbs high over the city, its sleek grey face really is a beautiful sight to behold. While Tokyo station is the essence of the Meji restoration, Kyoto is a contemporary work of art. The outside of the station is designed in a futurist style consisting of cubic glass and metal but I personally fell in love with the interior.
