Venue: Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Bookstore Gallery Space When: Jan 8th - Jan 30th 2022

From January 8th until January 30th, the Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya store is hosting an exhibition of works from Japanese artist Kohei Yamada. Born in Osaka in 1997, Yamada is a graduate of the Musashino Art University's Department of Oil Painting, and is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the Kyoto University of Arts.

When describing his own artistic style, Yamada mentions that he adds a large amount of oil paint to the canvas and lets the colors drip, bleed, and mix to get inspiration for what to create. He took part in the successful Rising Stars exhibition with other young artists at Ginza Tsutaya in October 2021, but this event in Kyoto will be his first solo exhibition in the city.

Admission is free of charge.

Getting there

Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya is located under 10 minutes on foot from Higashiyama Station, which is served by the Tozai Line.

As there is no dedicated parking lot on-site, patrons are advised to use public transport wherever possible.
