Celebrating 15 years of this stop-motion animation favorite

First aired in 2007, Shaun the Sheep is a stop-motion animation series which has been broadcast in an incredible 180 countries. A special exhibition taking place at Kyoto's Museum EKI will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the much-loved show, and plants to showcase puppets, sets, and storyboards produced for shooting.

Visitors will also get an insight into the production of the series, and the amount of work that goes into it – the average length of footage an animator could shoot for an episode in a week was only 20 seconds!

Adult admission to the event is priced at ¥900, and no advance reservations are required.

Getting there

Museum EKI Kyoto is located within the Kyoto Station building, on the 7th floor adjacent to the Isetan department store. The station is served by a wide variety of lines, including the Tokaido Shinkansen, the Tokaido Main Line, the Nara Line, and the Sanin Main Line.

For those who plan to drive, parking is available at the station, which is charged at ¥600 for the first hour, and ¥300 for every 30 minutes thereafter.

Love Shaun the Sheep. We stayed in a Shaun the Sheep themed accommodation when my kids were all still under six. They couldn't get enough of it!
