The Cherry Blossoms of Kyoto

...because Kyoto is the place to be in April

Let us start with Hirano Shrine; in April it feels as if the shrine gets itself a new roof made of baby pink blossoms.

Then, you just have to add some traditional lanterns to the already beautiful landscape and you get yourself a new desktop background.

Usually I am not a fan of pink, but I always let April get away with it.

As the evening approaches, why not get a drink at one of the bars at Kiyamachi street? There you will find yourself in a gorgeous tunnel of pinks and whites lit up nicely after the sunset.

Next day take a subway to Keage Station. There you will find a very "Spirited Away" looking tunnel next to the station's exit. However, even though usually you would go through there, not in April my dear friends. Go down the slope until the abandoned rail tracks will be visible on your right side. The picture says it all...

Not many places in the world have the train tracks hidden, yet again, in a tunnel of cherry blossoms.

This lady obviously knows what to wear for a cherry blossom viewing. I will just follow her to my favorite place in Kyoto during any time of the year...

....and especially spring:

The Philosopher's Path is definitely a must-see in April.

There are plenty of other places to see cherry blossoms in Kyoto, however. You just cannot choose wrong as everywhere looks amazing. This time I found myself strolling somewhere around the base of Yoshida mountain.

Plenty of cherry trees to take pictures of ...

... as well as early spring flowers.

Then I found myself an impressive looking temple, which of course as any other self-respecting temple had tons of cherry trees planted everywhere.

Some of them will lead your way up the stairs to a pagoda.

Just lovely, don't you think so?

With spring just around the corner, let me follow other examples and talk about cherry blossoms, in particularly about the cherry blossoms of Kyoto. There must obviously be a reason why everyone is so obsessed with Kyoto and its pink trees—this city looks absolutely breathtaking in April (but actually any time of the year to be honest). It is the place to be for cherry blossom viewing in my (and many others) opinion. So please, without further ado, let me introduce to you the cherry blossoms of Kyoto.
