Whether or not you're religious, Karuizawa's stone church is an enjoyable place to visit, at least for its stunning architecture. Its beautiful main interior (which you are forbidden to take pictures of) is wonderfully peaceful, a lovely wedding venue. Only a 10-15 minute walk from the Hoshino resort and Picchio tourist centre, it's an easy trip and worth a visit.

The architecture is beautiful and minimalist

Mottoes such as these are found all around the church and its small exhibition at the rear

The angular architecture is fascinating
