A special exhibition taking place at the Niigata Prefectural Bandaijima Museum looks at the road leading to the creation of Taro Okamoto's "Tower of the Sun", a structure built for Expo '70 held in Osaka. The tower went through restoration work in 2018, and as a result Okamoto's art has received new interest.

Along with exploring the Tower of the Sun from its concept stage to completion, the event will also showcase a range of Okamoto's other works, including painting and photography pieces.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1200 yen.

Getting there

The Niigata Prefectural Bandaijima Museum is located on the 5th floor of the Bandaijima Building.

Buses are available to the museum area from Niigata Station's Bandai Exit. Take bus line 3 bound for Sado Kisen and get off at the Toki Messe bus stop.

For those planning to drive, the Toki Messe parking lot C is the best option. The first hour of parking is free, and then charged at 100 yen per 30 minute increment thereafter.
