Zenibuchi Park

A glorious springtime spot in snow country

Zenibuchi Park is situated in Minamiuonuma, and provides a pleasant spot to enjoy the springtime cherry blossoms. There are plenty of other blooms to enjoy as well - and even if you can't make it to the park in the spring, you'll appreciate the beauty of nature here no matter the season.

When the cherry blossoms are blooming, you'll find that the park takes on a festival-like atmosphere, including plenty of food vans where you can grab a bite to eat. During last year's cherry blossom season there were even crane rides available, where you could get a bird's eye view of the park for free. The crane rides provided a fantastic 360 degree panorama of the mountains that flank the park, many of which still had a dusting of snow on top.

Getting there

Zenibuchi Park is approximately a fifteen minute walk from the JR Muikamachi Station, serviced by both the Joetsu and Hoku-Hoku lines. Alternatively, if you're headed to the park via private vehicle there is free on-site parking available. On weekends during sakura season the parking lot does typically fill up quite quickly, so the earlier you can get there, the better!
