Minamigaoka Dairy is a family ranch that has all sorts of domestic animals and activities aimed at families. You can get up close with sheep, cows, goats, rabbits and horses, catch fish and cook them, play golf, shoot a bow and arrow and ride a horse all in one place. Shops and restaurants make this a great family day out for everyone concerned. They milk their herd of Guernsey cows and there are lots of great local products in the shops. Entry is free and there is loads of parking.

Day of fun in Nasu Highlands
Community writer
While I was here this weekend, Halloween was in full swing with costumes, photo opportunities and giant pumpkins
Nasu-Minamigoaka Dairy is a sort of sightseeing ranch where people can interact with animals, buy local produce and essentially have an active family day out
The Japanese only map displays a wide range of activities from fishing to archery
The ponds are full of fish, some just for feeding and watching but others for fishing
I think these are a type of trout; the ponds are brimming with them
Families can pet rabbits, goats, sheep, and many other animals here
There are a number of horses available to ride, supervised of course!
Its a short ride around the track, but great fun if you've never been on a horse before!
There is an opportunity to rent a fishing pole and catch yourself some lunch
And close by are small fires, so you can cook your catch while it's fresh
Numerous stores sell local sweets, produce and gifts, so you don't need to go home empty handed
A special local favorite: Freeze dried strawberries coated in white chocolate
And very sumptuous Guernsey milk from the cows at the dairy
