The saying goes that behind every great man there is a great woman, and that is true for the Finnish designer and architect Alvar Aalto (1898 – 1976). His wife Aino (1894 - 1949) was involved in the same field, and was credited as being a pioneer of Scandinavian design in her own right. A special exhibition taking place at the Setagaya Art Museum looks at the shared ideals and complementary visions the couple had through documents and materials on loan from the Aalto family archive.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 1200 yen.
