Modern Japanese Painting 2021

A special exhibition at the Gotoh Museum

Venue
Gotoh Museum, Tokyo
When
Jun 1st - Jun 20th 2021

An exhibition focusing on modern Japanese painting will take place at Tokyo's Gotoh Museum from June 1st until June 20th, and it will showcase artworks from the museum's collection ranging from the Meiji era through to the Showa era. The works on display include pieces from influential artists like Taikan Yokoyama (1868 – 1958) and Masakuni Hashimoto (1835 - 1908) to name just a couple.

Many of the works displayed at the event are inspired by the four seasons, and there will also be various kacho-e (bird and flower) pieces to appreciate. Adult admission to the event is priced at 1000 yen, and no advance reservations are required.

Getting there

The Gotoh Museum is located in Setagaya, and can be accessed within 5 minutes on foot from Kaminoge Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line.

For those who plan to drive, there is only a limited amount of parking on site. As a result, museum staff encourage the use of public transport wherever possible.

I admire Japanese style of painting and graphics! It's full of light, and lines are so exact and beautiful! Just wonderful art!
