Venue: National Museum of Modern Art When: Sunday - Feb 2nd 2020 , 10:00am - 5:00pm

The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (MoMAT) will once again be holding its Free Admission Day for access to its Permanent Collection.

The first Sunday of each month rewards the budget-conscious with free entry. As its name suggests, the museum focuses heavily on modern works of the 20th century, particularly Japanese ones including modern ukiyo-e. Featuring a museum shop, restaurant, and art library, the museum is located right by the Imperial Palace and, along its moats and walls, offers picturesque views of central Tokyo, to say nothing of its renowned artistic collection.

The museum also features a separate craft gallery, a film archive in the form of the now independent National Film Center as well as special exhibitions which, while accessible to the public, do not fall under the free admission day program.

Please check the official website for special exhibition details, other free admission days and notes on photography within the museum.

Getting there

Take the Tozai Subway Line to Takebashi Station. The museum is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 1B.
