For a traditional Japanese tea experience, Saryo is a great place to start. Saryo (Tea Pavilion) in Kagurazaka is the flagship store of four Saryo cafes. Each location has a slightly different concept; the Kagurazaka Saryo has a very elegant but also at-home feel. Saryo in Kagurazaka is hidden away, allowing one to rid oneself of being surrounded by the city and really relax. Saryo takes simple traditional Japanese food like udon and transforms it into a beautiful and delicious work of art. Try something new, like porridge or mochi, and be amazed by the flavors, colors and textures.

Saryo: Tea Pavilion
A very traditional and elegant Japanese cafe experience

The exterior design, with the elegant wood polish, allows it to blend into the historical city of Kagurazaka very well.

The menu has a variety of the usual Japanese food - udon, curry, seafood - with a flavorful aesthetic twist

My friend ordered this speciality: shrimp and beancurd porridge

Japanese-style parfait, with green tea ice cream, soy-flour pound cake, milk pudding, and brown sugar jelly

And of course, they do latte art and use traditional Japanese tea cups

Wild strawberry and condensed milk chiffon cake with vanilla milk ice cream

This elegant cafe is perfect for catching up with friends

From the moment you walk in, there's a sense of intimacy in this small cafe

Some of the beautiful teaware the cafe has on display

And you can always take the amazing pastries home!
