The old area of Tokyo, Yanesen, is a great way to spend a half-day wandering about seeing the ancient temples, the interesting shops along Yanaka Ginza, and even a puppet show featuring hand-made puppets. Treat yourself to a soba lunch, sweets from yesteryear, and even homemade ice cream or 10 yen manju. Buy some great souvenirs at the Japanese paper shop, rice crackers for a snack or gifts, or browse the museum of ancient clocks. An easy way to spend a few hours or a day.
