Fujigochi Chaen

Ube City is home to one of the largest tea plantations in western Japan. Fujigochi Chaen is a tea farm located on a small hill near Lake Ono in northern Ube City. More than 90% of Yamaguchi Prefecture tea is produced here—the tea is a local taste that balances bitterness and astringency.

Visitors to Fujigochi Chaen can participate in guided tours led by local tea farmers. The tour will teach the tea-making process and the plantation’s history. The tour includes tea tastings, offering varieties like ichiban-cha (first harvest tea) and hojicha (roasted green tea). The tour is also accompanied by locally made sweets.

The plantation features an observation terrace with panoramic views of tea fields. Take a moment to steep in the view—it is absolutely stunning!

A visit to Fujigochi Chaen gives you the chance to immerse yourself in local tea cultivation and traditions while enjoying the tranquil beauty of Ube City.
