Mandala Temple Wisteria Festival

A must-see Wisteria Festival in Central Japan

Missed the sakura blooming? Don't worry, fuji flowers (wisteria) are ready to cheer you up with their blooms after the sakura have fallen.

Spring in Japan is not all about sakura, there are plenty of beautiful, colorful flowers in this country, such as wisteria. Wisteria blooms from the end of April to early May.

The beauty of this flower not only attracts tourists but also Japanese poets and artists. Wisteria often appeared in classic Japanese literature, such as the Manyoshu poetry collection and the kabuki play "Fuji Musume" (Wisteria Maiden). One of the best locations to enjoy a Wisteria Festival in Central Japan is Mandala Temple Park (Mandara-ji Park) in Konan City, Aichi Prefecture.

This park can be reached from Nagoya by 30-minute ride on the Meitetsu Inuyama Line and by city bus. From Konan Station, take a city bus to Mandara-ji bus stop. The park is open 24 hours to the public for free. Don't miss the lighting up event from 18:30 to 21:00 to feel the romantic atmosphere in this wisteria park.
