Like most Japanese temples, the Naritasan Temple inevitably draws large crowds of tourists eager to see and take photographs of historic Japanese architecture.
To escape these crowds one only has to step into Narita-san Park (Narita-san Kōen), the incredibly peaceful green space the various temple buildings surround.
In summer, the park was beautiful, with hundreds of different shades of green. It was also cool, despite the hot day, and completely quiet. The perfect relief from the busy temple site.
