Located just minutes from Fukui Station by bus (Keifuku 35 bus) or taxi, or a pleasant 15 minute-walk on a nice day, Yokokan Garden is a must-see when you visit Fukui city. Owned for centuries by the powerful Matusdaira clan, this elegant house, pond, and garden was declared a cultural treasure in 1982. The tatami style rooms are enjoyable to sit upon, looking out onto the beautiful colors of the trees and flowers reflected in the pond. The beauty on display here changes with the seasons, so come back whenever you have a chance.
