The Ohana Estate and Villa in central Yanagawa is worth a visit any time of year, but the months of February and March see the property "all dolled up" with stunning displays for Girls' Day. Tiers of dolls and hanging sagemon (mobiles made of cloth animals and woven balls) are scattered throughout the mansion's many rooms and a massive display can be seen at the rear of the house. A few dolls are even set out in the villa's picturesque Shotoen, a garden in the center of the sprawling property.

Sagemon hanging in the hallways of the Ohana Villa

A large display of Hina dolls in the entrance of the Ohana Villa

Dolls here come in all sizes

The sagemon can be found throughout the house, but the largest display is in the rear of the villa

Sagemon were traditionally created by Yanagawa residents on the occasion of the birth of a daughter in the family

Wish I lived closer - this event looks so beautiful. So much color!
This is hands-down one of my favorite Hina festivals in Japan.

I don't know if anyone else watches Princess Jellyfish, but this reminds me of one of the characters in it!!
