When you choose your hotel, what is the top priority for you? For me, it’s definitely location! First, the hotel should have good access to and from the nearest station. Second, I hope it has a nice view. Third, there should be some supermarkets and nice restaurants nearby—I love to eat! After that: space, food, service, and cleanliness.

Of course, if you can afford to stay at a luxury hotel, you will automatically get all of these. But thinking about your budget carefully, how many hotels meet these criteria for you? The Star Hotel, right in front of Yamashita Park, gives excellent value for money.

Star Hotel advantages

It is close to Motomachi-Chukagai station of the Minato Mirai subway line. Go out Exit 3 and go toward Chinatown. When you see Seven-eleven on the left and Maruetsu supermarket on the right, turn right. You can see the hotel in a minute on the right.

There are two types of views: sea view rooms and city view rooms. If you choose a sea view room, you have Yamashita Park and the Hikawa-Maru Liner just in front of you. From your veranda, you can see Osanbashi Pier , numerous ships, the Minato Mirai skyscrapers to your left, and the Yokohama Bay to your right.

Various restaurants and shops are nearby and the Star Hotel is just a 3-minute walk from the hotel to Chinatown! The famous shopping street, Motomachi, is also within walking distance.

In addition, there are two supermarkets near the hotel. Maruetsu is 2 minutes walking distance. It is open 24 hours a day and is pretty well stocked. Nearby Meiji-ya is a kind of high-quality food shop. The prices are higher but it is a really nice grocery. The 7-11 convenience store is opposite Maruetsu. It is also open 24 hours. And good news for McDonald’s fans: There is one just a minute from the hotel. It is open 24 hours a day, everyday of the year.

And if you stay there in the summer, you can go up to the roof garden and enjoy the wonderful view over ice-cold beer.

The room size and amenities are reasonable for the price. They have a free WiFi connection service but it works only in the lobby area, not in the guest rooms.

If you have your computer with you, you can use the LAN connection in your room. There is also a coin operated computer rental service in the lobby for 100 yen/10 minutes
