Chestnuts are one of the popular tastes of autumn in Japan, and the Westin Miyako Kyoto is hosting a chestnut-themed afternoon tea event from November 1st until December 31st. The menu for the afternoon tea includes both sweet and savory dishes containing chestnuts, such as chestnut and prosciutto sandwiches, Mont Blancs, and chestnut and smoked duck pinchos (a type of bread-based snack popular in Spain).

The price per head for the afternoon tea is ¥ 5100, and reservations can be made via the official hotel website.

Getting there

The Westin Miyako Kyoto is located just two minutes on foot from Keage Station, which is served by the Tozai subway line. Alternatively, the hotel operates shuttle bus services from Kyoto Station to the premises on a regular basis - please check with them about departure times on the day of your intended visit.

For those who opt to drive, the hotel is around 15 minutes from the Kyoto-Higashi IC on the Meishin Expressway.

How chestnut sounds in Japanese? There are places where people don't speak English, so I learn some Japanese words for communication. :)

Chestnuts are a treat! I'm sure there is enough variety to please the palate of those who like savory and sweet chestnut dishes.

A curious one I enjoyed in Hiraizumi City was soba with chestnut dressing. It was an amazing combination of nutty flavors.
