Sometimes called Fushimi-no-Bentensan, Choken-ji is dedicated to Benten, the goddess of wealth, happiness, wisdom and music. Founded in 1699, this temple has a very unusual and striking Chinese-style gate. Choken-ji is particularly beautiful in Autumn, but these photos were taken in early spring. Even so, I enjoyed exploring this temple because it has its own unique character. Choken-ji is opposite a canal with tour boat rides, and close to Teradaya Inn, Gekkeikan Sake Brewery and Kizakura Kappa Museum.
