The Moss Garden at Saihoji Temple

It takes time, effort and more than a little cash to visit the famed Moss Garden at Saihoji Temple on the western fringes of Kyoto. However, once here you'll find a stunning garden, mysterious in its shadowy grounds and replete with many varieties of moss from which the temple gets its name. The atmosphere is especially magical just after one of summer's heavy rains.
