The Nagakura shrine in Karuizawa is just a ten-minute walk away from Nakakaruizawa train station. After exploring the Prince Shopping Plaza, the local wildlife on a Picchio eco-tour, and some of the Hoshino hot springs, why not go a little off the beaten track? This shrine is a beautiful insight to the older side of Karuizawa, and is the perfect place to sit down, find some peace and quiet, and take a break from a busy day of walking.

The entrance to the shrine is just off the main road

The shrine is shrouded in beautiful trees

Beautiful carvings above the main building's entrance

Fortunes are tied to the front of the shrine

A tombstone, or perhaps the depiction of a deity

More fascinating statues beside the shrine

Located beside the main shrine building

The surrounding wooded area is the perfect place to sit down and escape the summer heat
