Sakura Season at Komoro Castle Park

Spring's beauty on display in Nagano

From the early to mid-April timeframe each year, Nagano's Komoro Castle Park is home to a sakura festival that celebrates the beauty of around 500 trees that bloom on the grounds. Owing to all the natural beauty you'll find here, the venue was named as one of Japan's Top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots back in 1990.

For the majority of the year, the park is only open from 9 am until 5 pm. However, during sakura season this is extended until 10 pm so that visitors can enjoy the illuminated trees after dark. For those who can't visit during spring, the park is also renowned for its autumnal beauty.

Entrance to the park grounds is priced at 300 yen for adults and 100 yen for elementary and junior high school aged students.

Getting there

Nagano's Komoro Castle Park can be accessed within around five minutes on foot from Komoro Station, served by the Shinano Railway Line and the JR Koumi Line

Komoro Castle was mentioned in the history. Was it reconstructed? Wonderful view, of course!

Thank you, Kim! :) I looked and yes, I'd heard of it in the dorama Fuurin Kazan - Komoro-jo was built under the direction of Yamamoto Kansuke (he was the main hero of that taiga dorama).
