Smartphone Safety Class

Fussa Police to educate on safe usage of mobile phones

In order to prevent trouble or crimes resulting from usage of mobile phones, Fussa Police Station is holding a Smartphone Safety Class on Saturday March 5th at 2:00 pm, at the 3rd floor lecture hall of the local Community Center.

There have been several incidents recently such as bullying, or worse, swindling and other forms of coercion, most of the victims being young people. The aim of the lecture is to empower and educate not just youth, but everyone who owns a mobile phone, for their own safety and protection.

The lecture will be free of charge and reservation is not necessary, but they can only accommodate the first 180 participants. For more information, you may visit Hamura City Hall at 5-2-1 Midorigaoka or contact the Citizen’s Group Center (Chiiki Shinkou, Shimin Katsudou Center) at extension 632. You may also email them at s102000@city.hamura.tokyo.jp.

This seems like an important local event, but I am not sure how useful this info is in regards to tourism or travel, especially if it is in only Japanese. It is not mentioned whether there is English support or not.

Mostly if it's a local event, instructions are given in Japanese, unless one from the audience would ask for translations or guide... But not all will be translated. It depends on the speaker's ability to speak in English.
