In late 2015, Japan Travel and Thai Airways partnered to bring two aspiring Thai photojournalists to Japan as part of a unique internship opportunity. The two winners were chosen from a pool of over 500 applicants and were treated to two weeks in the Japanese destinations of their choice. Interns were provided with free travel to Japan, accommodation in each destination, free transportation within the country and a pocket Wi-Fi for the duration of the trip.
Each winner was asked to focus on a particular theme for her contributions. Lucky winner Taksanantorn Jiraphansiri focused her travels around sights relating to Japan's kawaii animal culture, while fellow finalist Siraprapa Sinthao arranged her itinerary around Japan's varied food offerings.
This was the second such partnership between Japan Travel and Thai Airways who have been teaming up for nearly two years now to promote Japan and the new routes and flights available to Japan via Thai Airways.
The experience was much like the standard month-long photojournalism internship program regularly offered by Japan Travel. Those interested in one of the four-week photojournalism slots should submit their application through the Japan Travel website.
