Art Scene with Bicycles 2021

A themed exhibition at the Tokushima Modern Art Museum

Venue: Tokushima Modern Art Museum When: Jul 17th - Sep 5th 2021

Bicycles are modes of transport and a means of keeping active, but they've also inspired their fair share of artwork! A limited-time exhibition at the Tokushima Modern Art Museum looks at a variety of works depicting bicycles.

Over 130 works will be on display at the event from artists including Fernand Léger, Marc Chagall, and Katsumi Miyake to name just a few. The full list of exhibited works can be found in Japanese here.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 900 yen, and no advance reservations are required.

Getting there

The Tokushima Modern Art Museum can be conveniently accessed by bus from the JR Tokushima Station (Kotoku Line and Mugi Line). Take Tokushima Municipal Bus No. 3 bound for "Bunka no Mori", and alight at the dedicated stop. The ride time is just under 20 minutes.

For those who opt to drive to the museum, on-site parking is available for over 400 vehicles.

Bicycles with all their angles and curves are challenging to depict, right?

The social history of bicycles is fascinating. Significant for women’s freedom among other things.
