Shinjuku Gyoen is a wonderful place to take a rest during any season and any type of weather, but maybe it is best enjoyed the most on a bright day during hanami season. I visited Shinjuku Gyoen on one of such days in early April. From the very entrance, I found how many people had come to enjoy it as well! There were families, couples and groups of friends having picnics. Many people took photos with sakura and there were some wedding photo sessions. In one area, children can be seen running and playing around, while two ladies paint trees on another. Among all of the people there, stood a lonely heron watching around! I enjoyed watching the happy people who came to share that warm spring day with close ones. Visits like this help me to understand Japanese people better – their culture, the attitude towards nature and celebrating seasons with special events and festivals.
