Kameido Tenjin Shrine Plum Festival 2025

Seasonal blooms in a stunning setting

Venue: Kameido Tenjin Shrine When: Early Feb - Early Mar 2025

When it comes to seasonal springtime blooms, plum blossoms are some of the prettiest, and there are a number of festivals dedicated to their beauty. One such event is the Kameido Tenjin Shrine Plum Festival which takes place in Tokyo each year.

The grounds of this shrine are filled with around 300 plum trees blossoming in different shades ranging from white to dark pink, creating a picturesque atmosphere. As this event depends on the seasons, the dates can vary slightly from year to year, but plan for mid-February through to early March.

The shrine also has a famous wisteria festival which takes place from mid April through to early May.

Getting there

Kameido Tenjin Shrine is located in Koto Ward, Tokyo. If you're visiting via public transport, head to Kameido Station (served by the JR Chūō-Sōbu Line and the privately-operated Tobu Kameido Line). From there, the shrine grounds are approximately 12 minutes away on foot.

Plum blossoms are definitely underrated. I find their vivid pink especially beautiful.

So underrated - it might be an unpopular opinion, but I like them more than sakura!
